Summary Statement of Research Interests

My research centers on ancient innovation and social change with a particular interest on the interaction of technology, communication and ritual in the Ancient Near East and Egypt. I also investigate the uses of the past in ancient and modern societies, especially in connection to processes of social change. In USC's Archaeology Research Center I am engaged in technical material studies, archaeological publication projects, and the use of lasers and new imaging techniques in conservation.
